Missable side quests and deadlines
Phantom Blade Zero’s Quest Log splits optional objectives into three tabs alongside Story: Mysteries, Tales and Collectibles. Nine trophies and Steam achievements hang directly on these quests. Seven of Phantom Blade Zero’s nine quest trophies and achievements can be missed because their quests expire as the main story advances, starting with two early cutoffs before Jing Ye, the Outlaw and Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents.
Finish Apprentice Healer before you defeat Jing Ye, the Outlaw, and complete A Healer’s Mercy, the first step of Flesh Lily, and the opening step of Secrets of the Baishan Sect before you defeat Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents. At the Village of Lu Gate, accept both The Journey Home and Young Master Lan and report back after clearing the Smuggler’s Tunnel before you step into Pangzhen.

Flesh Lily and The Healer’s Legacy
Unlocking The Healer’s Legacy requires completing all three quests tied to the young apprentice healer Yu’er: Flesh Lily, Apprentice Healer and A Healer’s Mercy. Because Yu’er travels from Weeping Creek Valley to the Crimson Forest and finally to Pangzhen, missing any of her early stops locks out the entire chain.
You find the Flesh Lily in the Flesh Lily Fields beneath the Sha-Chi Tower in Weeping Creek Valley, where the puppet bride Hua, Deadly Betrothed guards a wedding hall among the spider lilies. Defeat Hua, Deadly Betrothed to claim the Flesh Lily and hand it to Yu’er at the Weeping Creek Valley Outpost before you fight Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents.
- Apprentice Healer — before Jing Ye, the Outlaw: Speak to Yu’er at the Weeping Creek Valley Outpost near the First Meeting with Yu’er bell. She wants to prepare a salve for wounded Mandate fighters and gives you her recipe calling for three herbs in Weeping Creek Valley: Blemish Goldweed, Congealeaf and Blood-Stopper Vine. Gather all three herbs across the valley and bring them back to Yu’er at the outpost before defeating Jing Ye, the Outlaw.
- Flesh Lily, part one — before Bai Chilian: Yu’er explains that she stole a prescription from an apothecary in Pangzhen describing a rare blossom that can cure her sick father. Descend to the Flesh Lily Fields at the base of the Sha-Chi Tower in Weeping Creek Valley, defeat the puppet bride Hua, Deadly Betrothed (who also unlocks the Scarlet Wraithblade achievement), pick up the Flesh Lily, and deliver it to Yu’er before defeating Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents.
- A Healer’s Mercy — before Bai Chilian: Meet Yu’er again at the thieves’ camp in the Crimson Forest. Thief Wang hands you the Record of the Lost Thieves, and Yu’er gives you Yu’er’s Life-Saving Pill. Track down the wounded thieves at the locations marked in the record, feed each of them a pill, and return to the camp to inform Yu’er before fighting Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents.
- Flesh Lily, part two — Pangzhen backstreets: After entering Pangzhen, follow the backstreets to Yu’er’s House to check on her father, a town brewer, and recover the Tarnished Jade Pendant and Crimson Flesh Lily. Complete the follow-up steps with Yu’er in Pangzhen before the main story advances to the Training Grounds.
Finishing all three quests pops The Healer’s Legacy and awards the Calming Gourd accessory—a seven-holed gourd infused with calming herbs that lets drinking medicine recover you from Guard Break and prevents Sha-Chi consumption for 3 seconds—alongside her father’s Blessed Jade Pendant.

How to enter the Crimson Manor
The Crimson Manor is a hidden Mystery quest beneath Weeping Creek Valley that holds the Herald’s secrets and one half of the crystal eye pair needed for Secrets at the Heart of the Lake. Ride the hidden lift at the bottom of the Sha-Chi Tower in Weeping Creek Valley down to the subterranean cavern where the red-roofed Crimson Manor stands. Open all three doors leading to The Herald’s Illusion to wake the three-eyed Puppet No. 66 and obtain the Mute’s Tongue and Crystal Eyeball [Yin], then use the Mute’s Tongue on the Mute puppet lock to open the Crimson Manor.
- Ride the hidden Sha-Chi Tower lift: At the base of the Sha-Chi Tower in Weeping Creek Valley (opened with the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key), step onto the hidden lift to descend into a high-vaulted underground chamber containing the red-roofed Crimson Manor bell. Inspecting the Crimson Manor Main Gate reveals that it is sealed by Puppet “Mute”, which matches the Puppet Mute’s Blueprint found in the puppet testing grounds.
- Open all three doors in The Herald’s Illusion: Enter The Herald’s Illusion, where three archway gates are arranged in a triangle around a central three-eyed puppet, Puppet No. 66. Each gate you unlock causes one of the puppet’s three eyes to open and pushes its ceramic tongue out by one groove.
- Claim the Mute’s Tongue and Crystal Eyeball [Yin]: Once all three doors are open, Puppet No. 66’s third forehead eye opens. Speak with it to learn that the Herald lives in the Crimson Manor beneath the tower and that his favourite creation is Puppet No. 99. Puppet No. 66 hands over the Mute’s Tongue (listed in inventory as Puppet’s Tongue) and the Crystal Eyeball [Yin] (Crystal Puppet Eye [Yin]).
- Unlock the Crimson Manor and defeat The Puppet Scavenger: Return to the subterranean manor beneath the Sha-Chi Tower and insert the Mute’s Tongue into the Mute puppet lock to open the Crimson Manor. Search the manor interior and descend into the Scavenger Pens below it to defeat The Puppet Scavenger (unlocking the Nothing Goes to Waste achievement) and obtain the Crystal Eyeball [Yang] (Crystal Puppet Eye [Yang]).
Secrets at the Heart of the Lake
Secrets at the Heart of the Lake unlocks the silver trophy and achievement Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake and is one of the mandatory quests for the true ending. Tear the talismans off the scarecrows across four regions to draw out and defeat the four hidden Acolytes—Acolyte Yanru, Acolyte Guhe, Acolyte Lei Ting and Acolyte Hansui—and collect their four masks to break the mirror seal on the Forbidden Ruins. Inside the Forbidden Ruins, defeat Blizzard Blademaster and socket both Crystal Eyeball [Yin] and Crystal Eyeball [Yang] into Puppet No. 99 to reach the ritual site at the Heart of the Lake.
- Find Firefly’s Memory Flowers: In the Village of Lu near the Temple of Blue Fireflies, collect all of Firefly’s Memory Flowers. The dying illusionist Firefly leaves a message begging someone to aid her senior brother Dusk and stop a ritual at the Heart of the Lake.
- Enter Dusk’s Refuge north of the Village of Lu: Gathering Firefly’s flowers dispels the illusion barrier behind the temple. Follow the canyon north of the Village of Lu into Dusk’s Refuge and find Dusk, the Puppeteer, who uses his last strength to show you seven old illusionists maintaining a Rift at the Heart of the Lake.
- Defeat the four hidden Acolytes for their masks: A Memory Flower inside the Crimson Manor and a letter outside the sealed ruins explain that the High Elder sealed the Forbidden Ruins with a Phantom Mirror. Only when all four Acolytes’ masks are reflected in the mirror will the seal break. Locate the scarecrows bearing talismans in four regions, tear every talisman off their straw bodies, and defeat each hidden Acolyte:
- Acolyte Yanru in the Village of Lu for Yanru’s Blazing Mask.
- Acolyte Guhe at Meigu Lake for Guhe’s Venom Mask.
- Acolyte Lei Ting in the Hidden Marsh / Crimson Manor route for Leiting’s Thunder Mask.
- Acolyte Hansui on the Soulrend Mountain Path for Hansui’s Frost Mask.
- Open the Forbidden Ruins, defeat Blizzard Blademaster and wake Puppet No. 99: Present all four masks at the Phantom Mirror to enter the Forbidden Ruins. Defeat Blizzard Blademaster (earning The White Shadow), then socket both Crystal Eyeball [Yin] (from Puppet No. 66 in The Herald’s Illusion) and Crystal Eyeball [Yang] (from the Crimson Manor) into Puppet No. 99 (Crystal Puppet No. 99).
- Destroy the ritual at the Heart of the Lake: Use Puppet No. 99 as the key to reach the ritual site at the Heart of the Lake and destroy the ritual before entering Mirage Estate, unlocking Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake.
Where to find all 4 Primal Stones
A Severed Mindseal is the four-part Tale quest for the friendly Shadow Warden who calls himself Spectral Blade. A Primal Stone is a cracked, glowing stone that powers a Sha-Chi Tower furnace; consuming it suppresses Sha-Chi surges and frees a Shadow Warden from the Order’s Mindseal commands.
To complete A Severed Mindseal and unlock the Spectral Blade achievement, you must find and hand a Primal Stone to the friendly Shadow Warden in four Sha-Chi Towers in strict order: Weeping Creek Valley, Pangzhen, the Crimson Forest, and the Soulrend Mountain Path. Hand over the first Primal Stone from the Sha-Chi forging furnace in Weeping Creek Valley before you leave the valley, or the quest chain expires.
| Step & region | Where the NPC waits | Where the Primal Stone is | Deadline & basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 · Weeping Creek Valley 悲泣溪谷 | Top of the Weeping Creek Valley Sha-Chi Tower (friendly Shadow Warden) | Inside the lower-level Sha-Chi forging furnace of the Weeping Creek Valley Sha-Chi Tower (use the Sha-Chi Furnace Inspection Crank 杀气炉探火孔开关) | Before leaving Weeping Creek Valley · Press-reported (PowerPyx) |
| 2 · Pangzhen 庞镇地区 | Inside the Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower (friendly Shadow Warden) | Found by searching the upper and lower furnace levels of the Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower | Before finishing Pangzhen · Press-reported (PowerPyx) |
| 3 · Crimson Forest 血色森林 | Top level of the Crimson Forest Sha-Chi Tower (unlocked with the Crimson Forest Sha-Chi Tower Key 血色森林杀气塔顶层钥匙) | Inside the Crimson Forest Sha-Chi Tower furnace chamber | Before his Mindseal overtakes him · Press-reported (PowerPyx) |
| 4 · Soulrend Mountain Path 断魂山道 | Sha-Chi Tower along the Soulrend Mountain Path at Mount Soulrend (now named Spectral Blade 鬼斩客) | Last remaining stone inside the Soulrend Mountain Path Sha-Chi Tower | Before the final boss at Soulrend Cliff · Press-reported (PowerPyx) |
Delivering the fourth Primal Stone on the Soulrend Mountain Path finishes A Severed Mindseal, unlocks the Spectral Blade trophy and achievement, and rewards the Statue of the Loyal Hero upgrade item alongside the Reflex Device accessory (which widens Parry and Perfect Dodge timing windows by 15 percent).
Baishan Sect, Old Man Gen and Lan Shaodi
Three missable silver trophies and achievements come from character Tales that start in the Crimson Forest and at the Village of Lu Gate: Secrets of the Baishan Sect, The Journey Home and Young Master Lan.
Secrets of the Baishan Sect (白山秘闻)
Speak with the two surviving Baishan Sect disciples at the thieves’ camp in the Crimson Forest before you defeat Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents. They tell you they hid their wounded Junior Sister Meng in a secret passage beneath the mountain lodge. Take the Crimson Forest Secret Chamber Crank from a fallen Baishan disciple’s hand to open the lodge’s hidden room and find Junior Sister Meng, who asks you to search the Mandate Encampment for Baishan Sect Leader Bi Taotao. Follow the Path of the Baishan’s Fall bell inside the Mandate Encampment past senior disciple Wu Lengshuang, examine Bi Taotao’s body at the end of the mountain path after her soul displacement, and then find and defeat Bi Taotao’s puppet form—a Vessel-class Swordfighter Puppet—to unlock The Last of Baishan and claim the dual-wielded Baishan Stormswords.
The Journey Home (归途)
Meet Old Man Gen at Old Man Gen’s Hideout by the Village of Lu Gate and agree to help him reach Pangzhen. Descend the Village of Lu well into the puppet testing grounds, unlock the Puppet No. 44 gate with Puppet No. 44’s Eye to clear the Smuggler’s Tunnel, and return to the Village of Lu Gate to tell Old Man Gen that the passage is clear before you enter Pangzhen. Once in Pangzhen’s backstreets, find Old Man Gen’s House (marked by yellow lanterns and opened with Old Man Gen’s Brass Key), retrieve the Dusty Old Wooden Comb from his late wife’s hand on the bed, and give the Wooden Comb to Old Man Gen at the Village of Lu Gate to earn Together Till the End, the Old Wooden Comb upgrade item and the War Wagon Phantom Edge.
Young Master Lan (兰家大少)
At Young Master Lan’s Hideout outside the Village of Lu Gate, speak with Lan Shaodi and say you are interested in his proposition. After clearing the Smuggler’s Tunnel, return to the Village of Lu Gate and tell Lan Shaodi the path is open before you enter Pangzhen. Next, meet Lan Shaodi outside the Lan Manor in Pangzhen: while claiming he plans to sell the orphans he sheltered to the Herald for puppet experiments, he secretly hands you the Lan Manor Key. Touch any Bell to rest and return to the Lan Manor to find Lan Shaodi mortally wounded by the Herald’s assassins after his plot to smuggle the children out by boat was exposed. Use the Lan Manor Key to unlock the manor gate and escort the children to safety at the dock, unlocking A Wanderer’s Honor and the Crimson Resolve accessory.
Pillars of Kunlun and the Illusory Pipa
Two linked Mystery quests—Pillars of Kunlun and Illusory Pipa—trace the betrayal of the Three Pillars of Kunlun (Huangxing, Moji and Yuyin), open the Mandate Encampment, and unlock the northern mountain path to Huangxing and the captive Chord.
- Find Wei Sanchuan’s body in the Pangzhen well: The outer gate of the Mandate Encampment northeast of the Crimson Forest is locked from within by Moji’s disciples. In Pangzhen, descend into the Well of Wei Sanchuan to find the body of Moji’s disciple Wei Sanchuan and loot the Mandate Encampment Outer Gate Key.
- Enter the Mandate Encampment: Unlock the outer gate on the mountain road, defeat Wan Jun “Coppermaul” at the entrance, and push through to the training grounds deep inside the encampment, where Moji’s notes point north across Meigu Lake toward the Mountain of Imprisonment.
- Recover all three parts of the Illusory Pipa: Starting with the Broken Illusory Pipa, collect its three missing pieces across three regions:
- Illusory Pipa Head in the Village of Lu, seized by Dusk after the Herald sent it to the High Elder.
- Illusory Pipa Backplate inside the Mandate Encampment.
- Illusory Pipa Strings at Meigu Lake: first complete Sha-Chi Powered Boat by defeating Wu Xuan, the Fallen General and Gu Wanyue, the Wailing Wraith in Pangzhen for two Transcension Cores. Install both cores on the Boat Master’s mechanical boat at the dock, sail onto Meigu Lake, collect the floating Memory Flowers for Allure of Vanity, and defeat the zither master Yan Qiansui on the central island to take the strings from her zither.
- Restore the pipa with Myst and open the Spectral Gate: Bring the head, backplate and strings to Myst at Myst’s Tavern, the Order’s secret underground tavern in Pangzhen, to restore the Illusory Pipa. Sail to the northern shore of Meigu Lake and play the restored pipa before the Spectral Gate to dispel the barrier and enter the Mountain of Imprisonment.
- Defeat Huangxing and unlock the Lady’s statue base: Ascend to the summit shrine and defeat Huangxing, unlocking Crossroads of Blood and the Flying Guillotine Phantom Edge. Finally, use the Flying Guillotine to turn the mechanical switch at the base of the Lady’s statue inside the shrine, opening the subterranean stair to rescue the Chord and finish both Pillars of Kunlun and Whence the Weeping.
All 45 keys, cranks, masks and quest items in the launch game (where to use each key)
| Key / Crank / Token | In-game description & door unlocked |
|---|---|
| Hansui’s Frost Mask 寒岁的坚冰面具 | A mask formed from hardened ice and Phantom Arts, impervious to flame and impossible to shatter. The Forbidden Ruins have been sealed shut ever since an intruder caused havoc within. Even the four Acolytes tasked with hunting down traitors can no longer enter on their own. |
| Soulrend Storeroom Key 断魂山工具间钥匙 | A standard key often carried by members of the Mandate. The endless wind and snow of Soulrend Mountain have cracked the metal, yet the groove along its teeth still gleams like new. |
| Crimson Forest Cellar Crank 血色森林山舍地窖开关 | A tiger-headed crank found on the second floor of a mountain cabin in the Crimson Forest. Traces of toxic gas still linger in its socket. Corpses lie strewn about, while mournful cries never cease... What secrets lie in the cellar beneath the ruined cabin? |
| Forest Outpost Courtyard Key 林中驿站院门钥匙 | Smoke once curled from the chimneys of this Outpost, children's laughter mingled with the sound of hoofbeats, and the innkeeper would wait by the door to welcome travelers from near and far. Back then, this key hung at her waist. |
| Cave Prison Key 洞窟监牢牢房钥匙 | A tarnished brass key, with old mine dust remaining in its grooves. Long ago, disciples of the Mandate built these cells to confine their own who had undergone Transcension. Now, the cave has fallen into the hands of bandits, imprisoning captured righteous path fighters in these cells. |
| Crimson Forest Secret Chamber Crank 血色森林山舍机关密室开关 | An iron crank clenched tightly in the hand of a Baishan disciple. It appears to open a secret door somewhere. Taken from her stiff, pale hand, the crank still holds some warmth. |
| Crimson Forest Tunnel Crank 血色森林坑道开关 | A crank found beside the Butcher's chopping block. Perhaps it opens another grisly underground passage. |
| Thieves’ Camp Dungeon Key 飞贼营地地牢钥匙 | A crude iron key with crooked teeth. It should be just enough to open a prison cell door. |
| Leiting’s Thunder Mask 雷婷的霹雳面具 | A mask of interwoven gold and green, with thunderous power surging within. The Forbidden Ruins have been sealed shut ever since an intruder caused havoc within. Even the four Acolytes tasked with hunting down traitors can no longer enter on their own. |
| Crystal Puppet Eye [yang] 水晶人偶眼珠【阳】 | A crystal puppet eye with a white, fish-shaped form visible within, resembling the Yang half of a taiji symbol. It forms a pair with another crystal eye containing the Yin half. |
| Village of Lu Cellar Key 陆家村村舍地窖钥匙 | A key pieced together from several iron bars. Besides opening the hidden entrance to the Smuggler's Tunnel, it seems to have served its owner just as often for picking locks. The character for "Lu" is engraved on one end, it may be the cellar key to an old house in Village of Lu. |
| Puppet No. 44’s Eye 四十四号人偶的独眼 | The passage deep within the Smuggler's Tunnel is blocked by Puppet No.44. This eye is the key to the puppet lock. |
| Yanru’s Blazing Mask 炎茹的炽焰面具 | A mask engulfed in a fierce, undying flame. The Forbidden Ruins have been sealed shut ever since an intruder caused havoc within. Even the four Acolytes tasked with hunting down traitors can no longer enter on their own. |
| Old Man Gen’s Brass Key 老根头家的黄铜钥匙 | An old key passed down through generations, older even than Old Man Gen himself. |
| Tunnel Cage Key 坑道牢笼小钥匙 | A key fashioned from a puppet's finger. Three smaller fingers jut unnaturally from the knuckles, together forming the key's teeth. Villagers were not the only captives here. The Herald's subordinates also caged thieves from the Smuggler's Tunnel, all destined for the making of puppets. |
| Guhe’s Venom Mask 蛊鹤的剧毒面具 | A purple mask coated in deadly, corrosive poison. The Forbidden Ruins have been sealed shut ever since an intruder caused havoc within. Even the four Acolytes tasked with hunting down traitors can no longer enter on their own. |
| Red-Cloth Door Key 红布木门的钥匙 | A key with a faded strip of red cloth tied to the end. Be it a wedding, success in the examinations, or a reunion with an old friend far from home, a touch of festive red always adorns such celebrations. |
| Lan Manor Key 兰家大宅大门钥匙 | An ornate bronze key engraved with delicate orchid motifs. Though it appears to have been passed down for a century, its luster remains undimmed. With this key, perhaps there will be a chance to rescue the children inside the Lan Manor. |
| Backstreet Courtyard Key 庞镇后街小院钥匙 | A small key left behind by the Maskwalker, Chen Zhu. It doesn't seem to have been used much. Opens the gate to a courtyard in Pangzhen's backstreets. |
| Pavilion of Knowledge Rooftop Key 八卦阁楼顶钥匙 | A key to the uppermost level of the Pavilion of Knowledge. The teeth are cast in the shape of the Qian trigram: three unbroken yang lines, strong and solemn. Heaven follows its constant course, while the world's secrets gather within this pavilion. |
| Heavy Lion Hall Gate Key 厚重的狮门钥匙 | A silver key shaped like a lion dance ball. It opens the main gate to the Lion Dance Hall. When sunlight passes through its openwork, it casts the silhouette of a lion with a ball in its jaws. Its weight seems to hold the echo of drums and gongs from days past. |
| Loong Emblem (yin) 龙形令牌·阴 | A Loong with its head bowed, its finely detailed scales almost lifelike. Its eyes, inlaid with black jade, glow faintly in the darkness. A smooth, rounded notch along its left edge appears to fit together with another fragment. |
| Loong Emblem (yang) 龙形令牌·阳 | A Loong with its head raised toward the heavens, its whiskers flowing gracefully. Its eyes, inlaid with agate, gleam as though alive. A smooth, rounded notch along its right edge appears to fit together with another fragment. |
| Loong Emblem 龙形令牌 | An emblem pieced together into a whole. Upon it, one Loong coils while another rises proudly, both weaving among billowing clouds, the sun and the moon. It seems capable of opening a Loong-shaped lock somewhere. |
| Tianxiang Pavilion Key 天香阁钥匙 | An engraved key carrying a faint scent of rouge and powder. Opens the main gate to Tianxiang Pavilion. |
| Huang Manor Key 黄家大宅钥匙 | Key to the front gate of the Huang Manor, adorned with a gold auspicious cloud charm. It appears to be worth a fair sum. |
| Backstreet Cellar Crank 后街秘密地窖开关 | A rough metal crank with red cloth wrapped tightly around its handle, probably to keep it from slipping. Opens the hidden cellar in the backstreets. |
| Pangzhen Dyehouse Courtyard Key 庞镇染坊外院钥匙 | This was once nothing more than an ordinary dyehouse. The cloth fluttering from wooden racks, the fermented scent of indigo plants, the blue stains that never washed from the dyers' fingers, the joy on women's faces as they donned new clothes—all withered beneath the ravages of that strange illness, fading into tattered remnants of indigo. |
| White Serpent Eye 白色蛇眼 | An amber crystal shaped like the eye of a serpent. Within its translucent core is a naturally embedded dark band, shimmering and shifting with the angle of the light, as if the serpent's gaze were following your every move. |
| Red Serpent Tongue 红色蛇信 | A mechanical serpent's tongue. Cold, lifelike, and exquisitely crafted. The mechanism at its base seems made to fit a hidden keyhole. This token was carefully placed within the Red Serpent Manor. What secret might it unlock? |
| Black Serpent Fang 黑色蛇牙 | A serpent's fang finely carved from crystal, smooth as a mirror and sharp as a blade. The slightest carelessness could see it pierce anyone seeking its secrets. Yet there are always those willing to brave this risk, if only to glimpse the truth beyond the door. |
| Crystal Puppet Eye [Yin] 水晶人偶眼珠【阴】 | A crystal puppet eye with a black, fish-shaped form visible within, resembling the Yin half of a taiji symbol. It forms a pair with another crystal eye containing the Yang half. |
| Puppet’s Tongue 人偶舌头 | A tongue-shaped key made of ceramic or finely polished bone. The three grooves at its base correspond to the three gates within the Herald's illusion. Every gate it unlocks causes the Three-Eyed Puppet's tongue to spring a little farther out. |
| Crimson Forest Sha-Chi Tower Key 血色森林杀气塔顶层钥匙 | A key reforged from the remnants of broken parts. Its teeth are strangely pitted as though eaten away by corrosion. Opens the door to the top level of the Crimson Forest Sha-Chi Tower. |
| Rusted Loong Key 锈蚀的龙形钥匙 | A key fashioned in the shape of a Loong. The gem that once sat in its eye is long gone, and the golden scales have been stripped away by human hands. Yet beneath the rust, the key still hints at the prosperity of its former owner. What is sealed away behind the gate it was made to open? |
| Sha-Chi Furnace Inspection Crank 杀气炉探火孔开关 | A grease-stained round crank, slightly warped by unrelenting heat. Small lettering is engraved on the handle: "Inspection Port No. 2 Control Console, Lower Level, Sha-Chi Forging Furnace." |
| Cell Key 牢门钥匙 | A prison key found in the pocket of a Mandate disciple. It is unclear which cell in the Valley Outpost it unlocks. To this day, the Mandate has found no answer to Transcension. Once they find one of their own undergoes Transcension, confinement remains the safest option, even if they are still lucid. |
| Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key 杀气塔底营地外门钥匙 | A crudely pieced-together key. The original had snapped, and its teeth were hastily fastened onto a short metal shaft. Opens the camp gate leading to the base of the Sha-Chi Tower. |
| Opera Ticket 戏票 | Tickets to performances at the Mirage Estate have always been hard to come by, and the competition for them has only grown fiercer. The Thread-Binders fight over a single ticket, spilling blood for the chance to attend. Only with this ticket may one enter the Opera Theater. |
| Rear Hill Key 后山钥匙 | A key to the side gate on the hill behind the Mirage Estate. Its handle is engraved with delicate landscape motifs and set with a piece of jade mottled red and green. Its teeth follow the outline of traditional roof eaves, unusual yet finely crafted. |
| Mandate Valley Gate Key 营前山谷大门钥匙 | The Mandate fortified the valley and built a route to their encampment. |
| Mandate Encampment Outer Gate Key 正道大营外门钥匙 | A roughly forged iron spare key. The plain, rigid design suggests it was made in haste. Opens the outer gate of the mountain road leading to the Mandate's encampment. |
| Training Grounds Key 校场大门钥匙 | A key hanging from a yellow jade ring. Opens the main gate to the Training Grounds. |
| Moji’s House Key 墨玑子房门钥匙 | A slender, flat key with a round opening at one end for hooking onto the locking bar. When Moji was here, the door to his residence was usually left unlocked. Those who came to seek instruction, pay a visit, or test their skills against him were always welcome. After his disappearance, his disciples kept the house tightly locked to protect their master's legacy from Huangxing's followers. |
| Quest item | In-game description |
|---|---|
| Nameless Master’s Severed Finger 无名大师的断指 | A severed finger preserved in ice and snow, untouched by decay. A thumb ring symbolizing the highest authority of the sect still encircles its pale knuckle. |
| Radiant Heart 无限煌心 | An intricate mechanical heart. A heart that beats without end. A heart that can generate limitless Sha-Chi without corruption. A greedy heart that would devour all things. An arrogant heart that seeks to rule the Wulin—and even command powers beyond this world. Or perhaps, a heart whose sense of justice has never faded. A heart that holds infinite possibilities. |
| Broken Illusory Pipa 破损的幻术琵琶 | A badly damaged Illusory Pipa, missing its strings, head, and backplate. Only part of the neck and upper body remains, but it still emits a faint, otherworldly hum. |
| Thief’s Manual 飞贼的秘籍 | A thief's keepsake, a thin booklet crudely bound with coarse thread. The cover is of tanned, unmarked sheepskin. Within, the pages have yellowed and grown brittle, their edges scorched and stained. Strangely, they bear no trace of insect damage, perhaps preserved by an herbal treatment. On the first page, five large characters give its title: "Seizing Hand." |
| Yu’er’s Life-Saving Pill 玉儿所制的保命丹 | A vermilion pill with a warm, lustrous sheen and a faint fragrance from the calming herbs Yu'er added to it. Once taken, it quickly staunches bleeding and mends wounds, while nourishing the meridians and restoring strength. |
| Cui’s Red Ribbon 小翠的红头绳 | A faded red ribbon braided from three strands of cotton. When Cui was younger, her father, mother, and grandfather would each tie her hair with it. But now, where have they all gone? |
| Illusory Pipa Head 幻术琵琶的琴头 | The elegantly shaped headstock of the Illusory Pipa. The Herald once sent it to the High Elder as a token before it was secretly taken by Dusk. A light touch on the tuning pegs sends a faint tremor through your fingertips. Though the strings are gone, their sound has yet to fade. |
| Hunter’s Dog Bell 猎户的犬铃 | A small bell once worn by Dahuang, the hunter's beloved hunting dog. The bell now rests in the hunter's clenched hands as he sinks into a dream from which he will never awaken. |
| Illusory Pipa Strings 幻术琵琶的琴弦 | After Yan Qiansui's defeat, her zither shimmered with iridescent radiance, revealing that she had strung it with the Illusory Pipa's strings, bestowed by the High Elder. Only Myst of the Three Sisters can restore the Illusory Pipa. Once all three pieces of the Illusory Pipa have been collected, seek her out. |
| Crimson Flesh Lily 鲜红的血肉花 | Yu'er dropped this Flesh Lily. Its petals are as bright as blood, reeking of decay. |
| Tarnished Jade Pendant 失去光彩的破损玉佩 | A dim jade pendant that fell from the body of Yu'er's father. It once carried his longing for his late wife, and his hopes for the future. With his passing, the pendant too has lost its luster, as though mourning a life of quiet hardship and sorrow. |
| Dormant Flaming Mane 熄火烈焰狮头 | A lion-headed flamethrower, now cold and silent after its fuel ran dry. For the time being, it can not be used. If refueled, it may be able to burn through bramble barriers on the path. |
| Shattered "Hero’s Courage" 破碎的“侠胆” | A fragment of jade known as "Hero's Courage", now somewhat clouded. Many believe jade possesses a spirit of its own, growing ever purer when nurtured by loyalty, courage, righteousness, and compassion. |
| Leading Actress’s Rouge 头牌花旦的脂粉 | Its intricate preparation and rare ingredients make this rouge exceptionally precious. Reserved only for Leading Opera Actresses. |
| Tattered Dance Fan 残破的舞扇 | A crimson dance fan, now marred by ragged tears. |
| Dusty Old Wooden Comb 落灰的老旧木梳子 | A wooden comb left behind by the old woman. A thin layer of dust has settled on the parts her fingers never touched. |
| Twin Flesh Lilies 双生血肉花 | A pair of white blossoms blooming from the same stem, almost identical in form. Each petal is lush and vibrant, shimmering with an iridescent sheen. As they sway, an overly sweet fragrance wafts, reminiscent of blood. |
| Primal Stone 浑源石 | A strange stone covered in cracks, yet impossible to shatter. A molten glow flows slowly through the fissures. The power source of the Sha-Chi Tower. It is said that consuming it can free one from the Mindseal's control and restore clarity of mind. |
| Flesh Lily 一朵血肉花 | A white blossom in full bloom, nearly identical in form to the one given to Yu'er. Each petal is lush and vibrant, shimmering with an iridescent sheen. As it sways, an overly sweet fragrance wafts, reminiscent of blood. |
| Prayer Beads 一串念珠 | A simple set of wooden prayer beads. It is said that ten thousand recitations of the sutras earn a measure of merit. How many times did their owner recite them? How many nights passed in waiting? No one is left to answer these questions; the monk who once carried these beads has become something no longer human. |
| Colorful Pinwheel 彩色的风车 | A bright and colorful pinwheel, untroubled by the dangers of this world or the sorrows of human life. So long as the wind continues to blow, it will spin with carefree delight. |
| Broken-String Bow 断弦的羽弓 | A longbow once used by the Old Archer's disciples. Its limbs have been polished smooth by years of use, still bearing traces of the care it once received. Now that the bowstring has snapped, perhaps the Old Archer at the outpost can repair it. |
| Blemish Goldweed 金创草 | One of the three medicinal herbs Yu'er needs. Its slender leaves curl gently at the edges, like willow leaves touched with dew. |
| Congealeaf 凝脂叶 | One of the three medicinal herbs Yu'er needs. True to its name, the leaves are thick and supple, releasing a faint, refreshing fragrance when crushed. |
| Blood-Stopper Vine 止血藤 | One of the three medicinal herbs Yu'er needs. Its vines are slender yet resilient. The dark crimson sap that seeps from them when snapped is known to stem bleeding. |
| Three-Headed Doll 三头小娃娃 | A strange cloth doll small enough to rest in one palm, with three little heads lined up atop its rounded body. The leftmost sleeps with its eyes closed; the right draws in on itself, uneasy and timid. The middle alone holds its chin slightly raised, its gaze piercing. |
| Broken Iron Sword 折断的铁剑 | An iron sword broken in two. It had long fulfilled its purpose, and should have forever rested beside the hero it once belonged to. Yet someone seems to have unearthed it from the grave in search of something, only to cast it aside. |
| Plain Hairpin 朴素的发钗 | A simply fashioned hairpin. Only the tiny pearls and jade ornaments still retain a soft luster. A small character, "Wan", is engraved on one end. Perhaps it once belonged to a heroine of that name, or perhaps it was kept as a token of remembrance. It was carefully wrapped in a handkerchief and placed before a grave. For reasons unknown, both now lie scattered in the dirt. |
| Black Scabbard 漆黑的刀鞘 | A slender black scabbard with twisting patterns running across the surface like veins. The blade it once carried is nowhere to be found, but such an extraordinary scabbard befit only a sword capable of cleaving through iron with ease. What weapon, then, left those parallel scars on the scabbard? |
| Illusory Pipa Backplate 幻术琵琶的背板 | The backplate of the Chord's Illusory Pipa, broken near the frets. The green flowers on its lacquered surface remain as vivid and dreamlike as ever. Only Myst of the Three Sisters can restore the pipa. Once all three pieces of the Illusory Pipa have been collected, seek her out at the tavern in Pangzhen. |

Phantom Blade Zero side quests FAQ
Which side quests are missable in Phantom Blade Zero?
Seven of Phantom Blade Zero’s nine quest trophies and achievements can be missed because their quests expire as the main story advances, starting with two early cutoffs before Jing Ye, the Outlaw and Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents. Finish Apprentice Healer before you defeat Jing Ye, the Outlaw, and complete A Healer’s Mercy, the first step of Flesh Lily, and the opening step of Secrets of the Baishan Sect before you defeat Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents.
Where do you find the Flesh Lily for Yu’er in Phantom Blade Zero?
You find the Flesh Lily in the Flesh Lily Fields beneath the Sha-Chi Tower in Weeping Creek Valley, where the puppet bride Hua, Deadly Betrothed guards a wedding hall among the spider lilies. Defeat Hua, Deadly Betrothed to claim the Flesh Lily and hand it to Yu’er at the Weeping Creek Valley Outpost before you fight Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents.
How do you enter the Crimson Manor in Phantom Blade Zero?
Ride the hidden lift at the bottom of the Sha-Chi Tower in Weeping Creek Valley down to the subterranean cavern where the red-roofed Crimson Manor stands. Open all three doors leading to The Herald’s Illusion to wake the three-eyed Puppet No. 66 and obtain the Mute’s Tongue and Crystal Eyeball [Yin], then use the Mute’s Tongue on the Mute puppet lock to open the Crimson Manor.
How do you unlock the Forbidden Ruins in Secrets at the Heart of the Lake?
Tear the talismans off the scarecrows across four regions to draw out and defeat the four hidden Acolytes—Acolyte Yanru, Acolyte Guhe, Acolyte Lei Ting and Acolyte Hansui—and collect their four masks to break the mirror seal on the Forbidden Ruins. Inside the Forbidden Ruins, defeat Blizzard Blademaster and socket both Crystal Eyeball [Yin] and Crystal Eyeball [Yang] into Puppet No. 99 to reach the ritual site at the Heart of the Lake.
Where are all 4 Primal Stones in Phantom Blade Zero?
To complete A Severed Mindseal and unlock the Spectral Blade achievement, you must find and hand a Primal Stone to the friendly Shadow Warden in four Sha-Chi Towers in strict order: Weeping Creek Valley, Pangzhen, the Crimson Forest, and the Soulrend Mountain Path. Hand over the first Primal Stone from the Sha-Chi forging furnace in Weeping Creek Valley before you leave the valley, or the quest chain expires.
