Every Phantom Blade Zero ending

The launch build’s ending screen has four named ending cards: Final Battle (True Ending), Lóng’s Roar, Annihilation and Undying Grudge. Before launch, director Soulframe Liang told Game Rant the game had eight different endings depending on how many side quests you complete.

In the game’s localization table, those four titles pair with four outcome descriptions on the cycle settlement screen, alongside two credits prompts: “You obtained the complete creator list!” for the True Ending and “You obtained the incomplete creator list!” when mysteries remain unresolved.

True Ending checklist

Final Battle is the True Ending and unlocks the gold trophy With Heart and Blood. To reach it, complete the key quest chains before their cutoffs—Flesh Lily, Apprentice Healer and A Healer’s Mercy, Secrets at the Heart of the Lake, Bloodline Awakening via the five Lóng Pillars, and Heart of the Banyan—finish every purple-icon journal tale, and defeat the two optional blade masters Zhu Yuan, the Searing Blade and Bi Feng, Giant Saber Commander.

  1. The Healer’s Legacy (ACH_038). Start Flesh Lily in Weeping Creek Valley and clear its first step before you defeat Bai Chilian. Complete Apprentice Healer before you defeat Jing Ye, the Outlaw, and finish A Healer’s Mercy before Bai Chilian.
  2. Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake (ACH_032). Complete Secrets at the Heart of the Lake at Meigu Lake: find Firefly’s Memory Flowers, enter Dusk’s Refuge, socket the Crystal Eyeball into Puppet No. 99, and destroy the ritual at the Heart of the Lake before the waters freeze.
  3. Phantom and Blade (ACH_033). Complete Bloodline Awakening by finding all five Lóng Pillars—at Weeping Creek Valley, Mirrorwood, the Mandate Encampment, Midlake at Meigu Lake, and Mirage Estate / Soulrend Cliff—and clearing their trials against The Gold-Masked One (Mó Yuan).
  4. Even Trees Know Sorrow (ACH_040). Complete Heart of the Banyan at the Human-Faced Banyan Trees and collect all 10 Memory Flowers (Listen to Every Flower).
  5. The Two Blade Masters (ACH_030) and purple-icon tales. Defeat both optional blade masters—Zhu Yuan, the Searing Blade in the Sha-Chi Tower furnace and Bi Feng, Giant Saber Commander at Commander’s Platform on the Mountain of Imprisonment—and finish every journal tale marked with a purple icon.

Other missable side quests tied to trophies have early cutoffs too: clear the first objective of A Severed Mindseal before leaving Weeping Creek Valley, clear the first objectives of The Journey Home and Young Master Lan at the Village of Lu hideout before entering Pangzhen, and accept Secrets of the Baishan Sect before fighting Bai Chilian. Full trophy deadlines are on the trophies page.

What decides your ending

Side quests can expire when the main story moves on. NPCs warn you before this happens, and the quest log keeps the clue.

In December 2025, director Soulframe Liang told Game Rant: “We have 8 different endings in the game, depending on how many side quests you complete.” In the launch build, those side-quest outcomes funnel into the four named ending cards above, while completing or skipping specific chains changes which characters survive and whether you unlock the complete creator list.

Clearing the normal story path without the True Ending requirements defeats Meng Hua, The Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil, and gives Lóng’s Roar, which unlocks no ending trophy. Completing the full checklist above opens the true final confrontation and awards Final Battle and With Heart and Blood.

The 66 days and a bad ending

Yes: the ending card Undying Grudge reads “Failed to uncover the truth and find the “Heart” before the end of your sixty-six-day lifespan.” On a first playthrough the 66 days is story framing and there is no live gameplay clock; Sixty-Six Days is a separate mode with 66 lives.

When asked at the October 2026 preview event, director Liang told RPGFan that the 66-day countdown is “purely narrative framing” on a first playthrough, so exploring maps does not tick down a live timer. Earlier statements reported on Chinese Wikipedia noted that running out of days in the story leads to a bad ending, which corresponds to the Undying Grudge card in the launch text.

Sixty-Six Days mode, which unlocks after you clear the game on Pathbreaker or Hellwalker, has a separate permadeath outcome: every death drops the counter by one, and when it hits zero a short cutscene plays, that run’s data becomes history for good, and the game asks whether you want to start over. Full rules are on the time limit page.

New Game+ and replaying for endings

New Game+ adds no new story, Gamersky reports, citing DualShockers. After any ending card, the settlement screen offers View Cycles and Return to the Realm of Mirage so you can clean up missed tales or start a new cycle.

The cycle settlement screen records your run under Cycle: and History:, displaying Total Completion: and Total Deaths: alongside the ending card. Choosing Return to the Realm of Mirage puts you back before the finale so you can finish remaining side quests, optional bosses and collectibles on a single save.

Reaching any ending unlocks the The Hunt outfit in the Appearance menu (“Unlock by reaching any ending”), while reaching the True Ending unlocks the Legacy outfit (“Unlock by reaching a specific ending”).
