1 · Across the bridge: the Illusory Pipa lead

Cross the bridge from Mirrorwood, open the chest at the entrance, and talk to the Chord’s triplet sister.

She explains how to mend the pipa: the head is in the Village of Lu, the back panel was taken to the Mandate Encampment, and the Phantom in Pangzhen’s secret tavern puts it together (Illusory Pipa). She also points you at the weeping in the northern hills (Whence the Weeping).

2 · Old Man Gen’s Hideout

At Old Man Gen’s Hideout, talk to Old Man Gen (The Journey Home). From here the stone bridge across from the Chapter 1 Outpost opens the way to the Lady’s cave.

The survivors tell you the Smuggler’s Tunnel, the only way into Pangzhen, is sealed (Heartless Remnants), and one of them holds the spare key to the Mandate Encampment’s outer gate. Quick Hand Zhang turns up again on the village path.

3 · Firefly’s note and Zhuo Bi

Pick up Firefly’s note: find her six Memory Flowers in the village to lift the illusion and reach her senior brother Dusk (Secrets at the Heart of the Lake).

Push on to the village gate and beat Zhuo Bi, the Gatekeeper.

You get: Bastion

4 · Back to the Thieves’ Camp dungeon

With the Bastion in your inventory, warp back to Cliffside Lodge in Chapter 2. The shield blocks the repeating crossbow volleys.

Inside: a Blackstone (a permanent raise to attack and guard break) and a chest in the poison pool below.

You get: Blackstone, poison-pool chest

What you can miss

• Collect all five Red Ribbons before you enter the Black Serpent House to fight Mu Xiaokui, Young Mistress of the Order (Red Ribbons and Fiend Saws).
