Who is Moji?

Moji is the Junior Brother of the Kunlun Sect’s three Pillars: Yuyin was fierce, Huangxing quiet, Moji gentle and easygoing. A loading screen says that in peaceful times he would have been a scholar and poet, and a letter from a feast in the Pillars’ honour has him trading poems over wine. His student Qianqian remembers a master who smiled and worried, went out of his way to protect the weak, and never stopped believing that even the longest night will pass.

His journal tells the camp’s last months from his side. His brother made contact with The Order and the two sides agreed to fight together. Then the news came back, through Huangxing, that the Chord had died with Bai Chilian; Yuyin left in a hurry and was never heard from again; and Huangxing began meeting a mysterious “Master Bai” in secret. When Huangxing ordered Perfect Transcension, Moji refused it: if they used evil to fight evil, what would separate them from the Maskwalkers?

His last page says he is ready to fight his brother to stop it, and that if he loses, Huangxing will go to the Lady’s shrine at the summit of the northern mountain. In the Mandate Encampment you find where the two finally fought, and a map with the mountain path circled in red. His disciples say he was murdered, Huangxing’s letter says he fled like a coward, and the camp keeps a cenotaph for him.

Who Moji is to the others

  • Senior sister

    Yuyin

The eldest of the three Pillars and head of the Kunlun Sect. Moji’s journal starts to worry when she leaves without a word after the joint operation with The Order; she has always been rational, he writes, so she must have her reasons.

“The Three Pillars of Kunlun—Yuyin, Huangxing, and Moji.”

    In-game dialogue
  • Student

    Qianqian

His student, who would rather hear stories about her master than train. In her memories he tells her that true heroism is not in great deeds but in staying true to the justice in your heart.

“Qianqian, you're always chasing stories instead of focusing on your training.”

    In-game dialogue
  • His man

    Liu Yi

One of Moji’s men, dying in a cage on the Mountain of Imprisonment. Liu Yi calls him gentle but unshakable, a true hero, and asks you to bring back anything of Moji’s from the summit.

“No. I serve Master Moji. They may be brothers... but they're nothing alike!”

    In-game dialogue
  • Disciple

    Zhao Di

Zhao Di, Zhuge Feng and Wei Sanchuan are his disciples. They refused Perfect Transcension, tried to escape the camp, and wrote in tears of blood that Huangxing had murdered their master.

“These three were Moji's disciples. They refused Transcension... and tried to flee.”

  • Elder brother

    Huangxing

His brother by blood and fellow Pillar. When they finally fought, Huangxing did not kill him: he sealed part of Moji in the clay statue in his shrine, so that Moji would have to watch what he built.

“No. I serve Master Moji. They may be brothers... but they're nothing alike!”

    In-game dialogue
  • Old comrade

    Soul

On the day of the joint operation the three Pillars fought beside The Order. From inside the statue Moji tells Soul it was an honour to have fought beside him, and leaves all their hopes with him.

“To have fought beside you... was an honor...”

    In-game dialogue

Every quest with Moji in it

  1. Mysteries

    Pillars of Kunlun

The Mystery of the three Pillars. In the Mandate Encampment you find the place where Moji and Huangxing finally fought, and his journal and map send you north to the Mountain of Imprisonment. The camp’s outer gate was locked by his disciples, so first you need its key from Wei Sanchuan in Pangzhen.

    How this quest turns out

At the summit, after you beat Huangxing, Moji speaks from inside the shrine’s clay statue. He tells Soul that Huangxing and Zuo Shang killed Yuyin, that the Chord is imprisoned beneath the shrine, and how to free her: turn the switch at the base of the statue with Huangxing’s Flying Guillotine.

  2. Tales

    Hero’s Lament

Liu Yi, one of Moji’s men, is dying in a cage on the cliffs of the Mountain of Imprisonment. He asks you to bring back anything of Moji’s you find on the mountain. Moji’s Bloodstained Sword is in the cave where the Maskwalkers keep their prisoners; bring it to him.

    How this quest turns out

The sword is stained with Maskwalker blood, and Liu Yi gives his own to cleanse it. The sword you pull out becomes the Ink Cut Phantom Edge, and his last words send you to kill Huangxing with it.

What happens to Moji

The end of the story for this character

Huangxing did not kill his brother. He sealed part of Moji in the clay statue in The Lady’s Shrine. After Soul beats Huangxing, Moji tells him the truth about Yuyin and the Chord, says it was an honour to have fought beside him, and puts all their hopes in him. Asked whether Huangxing still values their bond, he only says: does it matter? It’ll all be over soon.

The game never says outright what became of the rest of him. Near the end he appears once more as a vision: he always believed the turmoil in the Wulin would pass, he tells Soul, and now it falls to Soul to make that true.

“Cenotaph of Moji, Pillar of Kunlun”
