Yuyin
Yuyin is the eldest of the Three Pillars of Kunlun and head of the Kunlun Sect, the woman the Mandate made Commander-in-Chief of the Eastern Wulin. She is gone before Soul sets out. You never meet her: from Chapter 1 to Chapter 6 you piece her together from letters, books and other people’s memories.

Who is Yuyin?
The three Pillars of Kunlun were evenly matched, but Yuyin was the fierce one, strong-willed and revered. A letter in Weeping Creek Valley adds that she had a gentle heart and often took orphaned girls into her care, not to make fighters of them but to give them somewhere safe. At a feast in the Pillars’ honour, a guest remembers, she spent the evening tapping out melodies on the table.
Moji’s memories show her growing harder as the war dragged on, leaving little room for anyone to question her. She and Zuo Shang sealed the alliance between the Pillars and The Order; their joint letter turns up in the Village of Lu in Chapter 3. After the joint operation that followed she left in a hurry, sent her message through Zuo Shang, and was never heard from again.
The rest comes from people who outlived her. In Chapter 1 the wounded disciple says she was slain and the Pillars are shattered. In the Crimson Forest a Mandate fighter reads that Yuyin and Moji are both gone from the battlefield, and Huangxing’s own letter says she fell in battle. Moji’s journal in the Mandate Encampment still hopes to ask her why she left.

Who Yuyin is to the others
Junior brother
The youngest of the three Pillars. His journal trusts her to the end: she has always been rational, so she must have her reasons for leaving.
Ally
She agreed the joint operation between The Order and the Kunlun Sect with Zuo Shang, and the alliance letter bears both their seals. After the operation he was the one who passed her message on to the others.

Junior brother who betrayed her
Huangxing plotted with Zuo Shang to have her killed during the joint operation. When Zuo Shang offers to make her disappear, Huangxing says whatever happens to her has nothing to do with him.
“But... Huangxing had already conspired with Zuo Shang...and they murdered my Senior Sister, Yuyin...”

Mysteries
Pillars of Kunlun
The quest asks what happened to the Pillars of Kunlun. Yuyin’s part is in what you find on the way: the wounded disciple in Weeping Creek Valley, the alliance letter in the Village of Lu, and Moji’s journal in the Mandate Encampment.
How this quest turns out
At the summit of the Mountain of Imprisonment, Moji, sealed in the shrine’s statue, tells Soul that Huangxing had already conspired with Zuo Shang to murder her.
What happens to Yuyin
The end of the story for this character
Yuyin was murdered during the joint operation with The Order, and Huangxing and Zuo Shang plotted it together. In a memory of their meeting, Zuo Shang offers to make her disappear during the operation and Huangxing agrees to look away. The game never shows how she died. Afterwards Huangxing told the Wulin she had fallen in battle, and the Mandate in the region changed sharply once she was gone.
“Master Yuyin... slain...”
