Who is Lei Dang?
Lei Dang is broad-shouldered, upright and loyal to a fault. He and Soul went through life and death together in the Order; years ago he lost his right arm on a mission, and Soul is the reason he did not lose his head. He fitted a Tiger Cannon to the stump, a weapon that roars like a tiger when it charges. Under him, the two Tiger Guards Lei Huang and Lei Ming never went by codenames: he gave them names like brothers and treated them as brothers.
When the game opens, Soul stands accused of killing the former Shadow Sovereign, Mu Tianmiao, and by the Order’s rules Lei Dang should take him the moment they meet. He cannot quite believe it, and he will not be ungrateful. He has come to Pangzhen on Zuo Shang’s orders: the Herald, Leng Tu, is forging a Heart in the Mirage Estate, and Zuo Shang wants it.
You meet him in Chapter 4 at Jingyang Hall in Pangzhen, on the main story quest The Heart’s Trail. He tells Soul about the Heart and the Still Poison every visitor to the estate must drink, and he is the one who brings the Flaming Mane back to life. You see him again in the Mirage Estate.
Who Lei Dang is to the others
Old partner
They fought side by side in the Order for years, and Soul once saved his life. That debt is why Lei Dang will not lay a hand on him in Pangzhen, rules or no rules.
“If not for you, it wouldn't have been just my arm. I'd have lost my head.”
In-game dialogueTakes his orders
Zuo Shang calls him his right-hand man and sends him in his place to the Herald’s estate. Lei Dang comes to Pangzhen on the new Shadow Sovereign’s orders, to take the Heart.
Respected him
Lei Dang greatly respected Grandmaster Flame. When Soul brings him Flame’s dead lion head, a charge from his Tiger Cannon is what reignites it.
“Oh? I greatly respected Grandmaster Flame. I take it you've already dealt with him...”

Poisoned by him
Leng Tu switched the Still Poison and the Silence Poison. What Lei Dang drank to enter the Mirage Estate was the deadly one, and the Herald meant him to kill Soul before the poison killed him, so that Zuo Shang would never get the Radiant Heart.
“If Master Lei hadn't willingly taken the Silence Poison, how else could I have defeated the Order?”

Story
The Heart’s Trail
Visit Lei Dang at Jingyang Hall. His men want Soul’s life for the former Shadow Sovereign; Lei Dang calls a halt, but tells Soul the Order’s rules demand his life and that the fatal wound bears the mark of Soul’s blade. Soul tells him about the Tainted Heart; Lei Dang will not be ungrateful, and says this isn’t the time for them to fight. He explains the Heart, the Still Poison and the antidote Zuo Shang has, and leaves Soul to find his own way into the Mirage Estate. Later, bring him the Flaming Mane from the Lion Dance Hall: his Tiger Cannon reignites it, so you can burn through the brambles.
Story
The Way Forward
Inside the Mirage Estate, Soul catches up with Lei Dang in the Herald’s hands. This is where you fight him, at the Perfect Vessel Pond.
How this quest turns out
Lei Dang knowingly drank the true Silence Poison and fights Soul anyway, for what he calls one last fight worth making count. After he falls, the Tiger Cannon is Soul’s, and the quest has you use it to blast through the wall on the way to Soulrend Cliff.

Lei Dang, the Tiger Cannon
An Envoy of the Order, Lei Dang is broad shouldered and formidable, with an upright, steady nature and unwavering loyalty. He once lost his right arm on a mission and was saved by Soul.
He later fitted a Tiger Cannon to his severed arm. When charged, it roars like a tiger and unleashes devastating firepower. Now, under orders from the new Shadow Sovereign, Zuo Shang, he has come to Pangzhen to stop the Herald's long brewing scheme, a plot that could shake the entire Phantom World.
When the former Shadow Sovereign, Mu, was suddenly murdered, and the killer turned out to be Soul, an old comrade who had fought beside him through life and death, Lei Dang could hardly believe it. Yet by both duty and reason, he should have taken Soul into custody the moment they met. But with the situation at hand, and their deep bond in mind, he ultimately held back and instead showed Soul a path to Mirage Estate.
Yet for all Lei Dang's steadiness, every move he made had already been accounted for in Zuo Shang's calculations.
Lei Dang, One-Armed Tiger
Having cast aside the Tiger Cannon, Lei Dang unleashes a ferocious one-armed fighting style. His punches strike with enough force to shake the mountains, sending waves of power slicing forward like blades. He can also slam the ground with tremendous force, throwing his opponent off balance and leaving them exposed. If he leaps high into the air and crashes down with the force of thunder, the only way to avoid the attack is to use the terrain to get clear.
Lei Dang now knows that what he took was the true Trickster’s medicine. Every part of Leng Tu’s scheme was connected, and everyone caught in it had been trapped from the very beginning. But Soul may be the one exception, the only variable in a predetermined outcome, and the last hope for countless ordinary people. He may also be the one who can secure the Radiant Heart for Shadow Sovereign Zuo.
And if Lei Dang can face his old friend Soul, the renowned former Shadow Edict “Blackscar,” in one final fight before he dies, he will have no regrets.
What happens to Lei Dang
The end of the story for this character
In the Mirage Estate, Leng Tu crows that Master Lei took his Silence Poison and still killed many of his men. A tangle of double-crosses follows, until Lei Dang turns on Soul himself and drops the Tiger Cannon to fight one-armed. Only after the fight does Soul understand: Lei Dang took the real poison. He knew Leng Tu would not waste such a chance, and for the Shadow Sovereign’s grand design he had accepted death long ago.
He dies having had his last fight with his old friend, the former Shadow Edict Blackscar, and says that to die by Soul’s hand he has no regrets. His Tiger Cannon passes to Soul as his final gift to an old friend, and a Shadow Warden later brings the news that Master Lei is dead.
“To die by your hand... I have no regrets!”
