Cui
Cui is the granddaughter of the Village of Lu’s chief. In Chapter 3 Soul finds her in the Puppet Testing Grounds in the Village of Lu: her soul has been displaced into a little girl puppet, and what is left of her keeps saying she misses her mother, her father and her grandpa.

Who is Cui?
Cui grew up in the Village of Lu with her parents and her grandfather, the village chief. Her parents went off to join the Mandate, and then her grandfather was gone too.
Soul finds her in the Puppet Testing Grounds. Her soul has been displaced, but one stubborn thought is still holding on: she misses her mother and father and her grandpa, and wishes her grandpa would tie her hair for her once more. She gives Soul her red ribbon to take to him.
The ribbon is Cui’s Red Ribbon, faded, braided from three strands of cotton. When she was little, her father, her mother and her grandfather each tied her hair with it. Now, she wonders, where have they all gone?

The village chief, who has gone up the Mountain of Imprisonment to beg the Lady to bring her back. He swears he saw her alive, smiling, in her favourite flowered dress.

Cui
The quest starts when you find Cui in the Puppet Testing Grounds and she gives you her red ribbon for her grandfather. Find Lu Sanqian on the Mountain of Imprisonment in Chapter 6, help him up the mountain and give him the ribbon. After that, look for Cui’s parents.
How this quest turns out
None of the three generations get their reunion. Lu Sanqian dies at the shrine with the ribbon and a letter for his son, and when Soul finds Cui’s father, Lu Jieyuan, he tells him he was with Cui at the end.
What happens to Cui
The end of the story for this character
Soul tells her father, Lu Jieyuan, that he was with her at the end, and brings him her red ribbon. The game never shows what happened. By then Cui’s mother is dead too.

Is Cui alive?
When Soul finds her, her soul has already been displaced into a puppet; he tells her grandfather she may still be alive, but she is no different from a ghost. What happens after that is in the spoiler fold under her fate.
