Who is Firefly?
Firefly and Dusk were taken in by the High Elder’s school without a question about their past. She remembers it as a hidden haven where they practised the Phantom Arts and looked after each other. Then it went wrong, and both of them turned against it.
She and Dusk worked from within, trying to learn from the Herald how to enter the Heart of the Lake, until the Acolytes arrived and her link to him was cut. Knowing her time was running out, she left her last wish in illusion: whoever finds it should look for six Memory Flowers in the village, follow them to Dusk, and destroy the Rift within the Heart of the Lake, which must never open, or all life will perish.
You find her message in Chapter 3, the Village of Lu. Each flower replays a moment of hers: missing their old settlement, waiting fifteen days for a word from Dusk, and deciding to strike first at the Acolytes through the talisman scarecrows they leave behind.
Who Firefly is to the others
Senior brother
They planned to leave it all behind once this was over and go south, somewhere warm this time, with a yard full of flowers. Her flowers are how Soul finds him.
“Junior sister... don't grieve. Once this is over, we'll leave it all behind... just the two of us... far from all conflict.”
In-game dialogueHunting her
Acolyte Yanru, one of the High Elder’s four Acolytes, has orders to hunt down the defectors Firefly and Dusk. She hides in the Discordance through a scarecrow.

Their master
The High Elder took them in, then chose to work with the Lady of the Veil’s envoy, the Herald. He and the other Elders ordered the ruins sealed and everyone opposed to the Rift eliminated, and many of Firefly’s junior brothers and sisters were killed.
“The Elders never questioned our past. They took us in without hesitation...”

Secrets at the Heart of the Lake
Her dying message starts this quest. Gather her six Memory Flowers around the village to clear the illusion that hides Dusk’s refuge, then find him in the canyon beyond. The Acolytes who hunted her hide behind talisman scarecrows, and their four masks are what open the way into the Forbidden Ruins later.
How this quest turns out
Dusk’s first question when Soul reaches him is whether she has already been destroyed, body and soul.
What happens to Firefly
The end of the story for this character
Firefly does not survive. The Acolytes cut her link to Dusk, and she left her last wish knowing she was dying; her final flower is a message to him that entering the Heart of the Lake and destroying the passage now rests on him. When Soul finds Dusk, his first question is whether she has been destroyed, body and soul. The game never shows how she died.
“Now... my time is running out...”
