Who is Quick Hand Zhang?

Quick Hand Zhang travels the land collecting rare treasures and relics. When trouble struck Pangzhen he stashed his collection in a nearby cave, and Soul finds him locked in a hanging cage in the Crimson Forest, begging any passing hero to get him down. He wants out before he will say a word. Then he tells Soul the only way into Pangzhen now that the main bridge is gone: a smugglers’ tunnel in the Village of Lu, dug years ago by some associates to move loot, that comes out in a wine cellar in Pangzhen.

Ask whether he is the real Quick Hand Zhang and he admits the legend belongs to his uncle, Quick Hand Zhang the Elder, a master of disguise with countless doubles, long since retired. The nephew has only four other selves, five in all. Every word you say is heard by all five of them, he says, and every word he speaks comes from five combined minds.

He also works for a client he will not name, who wants the treasures scattered across the Wulin brought back. Like his uncle, he marks the places he lodges with a throwing knife strung with coins.
