Is Phantom Blade Zero open world?

No. Phantom Blade Zero is not an open world game, and it is not fully linear either. S-GAME said so in its own State of Play.

The same narration says each area “has been meticulously handcrafted, filled with countless surprises and secrets”.

Press who played four to six hours describe the shape in the same way. RPGFan found “a nonlinear structure with linear progression through open zones”, and reports that Liang cited a Metroidvania influence: tools you unlock later let you return to earlier levels and reach places you could not before.

Inven Global agrees on the direction: “The direction of advancement is undeniably linear—it is not an open world”. Gamersky’s preview calls the structure wide-linear: a fairly clear main route with many branches to explore along the way.

How big is the Phantom Blade Zero map?

S-GAME has not given a size for the world, in square kilometres, in walking time or in any other measure. What it has said is how the world is built: “Your journey is guided by 8 authentic, hand-painted Chinese ink wash maps.” In complex regions the maps “offer only a rough sense of direction”. The maps “connect into a single world, where bells enable fast travel between discovered locations.”

The narration names the kinds of place you travel through: villages, valleys, lakes and shadowed territories, including a valley overrun by ruthless bandits, a warehouse filled with hanging puppets, a steam-powered iron tower, and a vast lake that Soul crosses aboard a high-speed vessel.

The map screen in the same video shows a completion percentage for each region, and a separate list of what each region holds: bells, weapons and Phantom Edges, accessories and potions, challenge locations and more.

The launch build’s own chapter table counts nine regions after the prologue and 12 chapters across them; the walkthrough follows them in order. Before release, the director estimated 25 to 30 hours if you don’t get stuck on bosses.

Does Phantom Blade Zero have multiplayer or co-op?

Not as far as the stores show. The PlayStation Store lists Phantom Blade Zero for “1 players”, and its Steam page lists Single-player with no online or co-op category.

Multiplayer was mentioned once, years ago. In a May 2023 question-and-answer session on the game’s Discord, the studio said that endgame content would include “various multiplayer dungeons, boss rushes, rogue-like abysses, and more”, MP1st reported.

No official source since then has repeated it. The 2026 State of Play, the PlayStation Blog posts and the store pages say nothing about multiplayer. Treat co-op as not confirmed.

With no multiplayer listed, there is nothing to cross-play between PS5 and PC.

Which platforms is Phantom Blade Zero on?

At launch, Phantom Blade Zero is on PS5 and on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The official site’s pre-order buttons offer exactly those three. The Epic Games Store listing shows the date, 29 October 2026, and no hour. In China the PC version is also sold on WeGame and TapTap.

The game unlocks at 02:00 UTC on 29 October 2026 on the PlayStation Store, which is 28 October in the Americas. Steam and Epic have not published an hour.

The game is digital only at launch. PS5 physical editions follow in 2027: Standard, Deluxe and an Ultimate Edition with a collectible steel case.

Is Phantom Blade Zero coming to Xbox?

Not at launch, and no Xbox version has been announced: not for Xbox Series X|S, not for Xbox One and not for Game Pass.

PlayStation’s own State of Play ends on a card that reads “PlayStation®5 console exclusive*”. Its footnote: “*Also available on PC. Not available on other consoles until at least 12 months after release date.”

The State of Play was broadcast after the move to 29 October 2026, so the 12 months run from that date: no other console before late October 2027. The same footnote ran under the December 2025 release-date trailer. One Russian outlet reports that Xbox owners will wait until at least autumn 2027.

S-GAME has said it is open to more platforms. In August 2024, after a reported remark about Xbox at ChinaJoy, the studio stated: “we believe in making our game accessible to everyone and have not ruled out any platforms for Phantom Blade Zero.”

Is Phantom Blade Zero coming to Nintendo Switch 2?

No Switch 2 version has been announced. The official 12-month line covers every console other than PS5, Switch 2 included, but it does not promise a version for any of them.

Will Phantom Blade Zero run on Steam Deck?

Valve has not rated Phantom Blade Zero for Steam Deck yet. Its compatibility report returns no rating.

S-GAME aims for it. Reporting on Liang’s interview with PC Gamer, GamingBolt says the team wants the game to be accessible to “as many players as possible” and is looking to bring it to Steam Deck, despite the handheld’s known trouble with Unreal Engine 5 games. Is Phantom Blade Zero PS5 Pro Enhanced?

Yes. The PlayStation Store lists it as PS5 Pro Enhanced, and the release-date trailer shows a PS5 Pro logo. S-GAME has not published what the Pro version changes, such as resolution or frame rate modes.

Cross-save, offline play, file size and pre-load

Cross-save between PS5 and PC has not been announced. On PC, the Steam page lists Steam Cloud, so saves can follow you between computers on Steam.

Neither store says whether the game can be played offline. The Steam page names Denuvo as its copy protection.

The pre-load opens at 02:00 UTC on 27 October 2026 on all platforms, S-GAME announced on 22 October 2026. PC needs about 145 GB, with 300 GB free during the pre-load, S-GAME says, and Steam lists an SSD as required. The PS5 size is not announced; a tracker account reports a 134.857 GB download, which S-GAME has not confirmed.

Which languages and voice-overs does Phantom Blade Zero have?

Menus and subtitles come in 15 languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Italian, Russian, Thai and Vietnamese.

Full voice-over is in English and in Simplified Chinese, which is Mandarin. You can play with the Chinese voices and English subtitles.

Arabic is not in the list. A Cantonese dub has not been confirmed.
