Phantom Blade Zero · Character
Uncle Zhong
Uncle Zhong is an old hand of The Order who goes back to its founder, Mu Tianmiao; Soul and Zuo Shang both call him Uncle Zhong. He is not a boss and gives no quests: you see him in the story’s own scenes, at Zuo Shang’s side.

Who is Uncle Zhong?
Uncle Zhong speaks with an old servant’s courtesy: “Master Soul”, “Master Zuo”, “Shadow Sovereign Mu”. He remembers what Mu founded the Order for: rules that would let the sects of the Wulin live side by side in peace, rules that Transcension, the Discordance and Soul Displacement have since trampled into the dust.
Once Soul has reached Pangzhen, a scene shows Uncle Zhong reporting to Zuo Shang that Master Soul is in town, and that the Flesh Sculptor’s Tainted Heart seems to have restored his strength. Zuo Shang only answers that a change in the game may not be such a bad thing.

Confidant
Three years before the game Uncle Zhong told Zuo Shang the truth of his origins, and praised a vision that reaches far beyond the Wulin, further than Mu Tianmiao’s ever did.
“Master Zuo, your vision reaches far beyond the Wulin. Even the old Shadow Sovereign Mu could not match it. I am deeply impressed.”
In-game dialogueOld master, betrayed
He gave Zuo Shang the map to Mu’s secret retreat to pass on to Soul, and told him how Mu trained there: ringing the Soulrend Cliff bell, with Mó Yuan’s golden mask to keep from breaking. He was there the night Mu died, and asked Zuo Shang why he let Soul go.
“This map leads to Shadow Sovereign Mu's retreat, where he trains in swordsmanship. Deliver it to Master Soul...”
