Who is Jewel?
Jewel greets Soul with relief: she has been waiting forever. Ask whether she is Forge’s younger sister and she bristles; they are triplets, and Forge was only born a moment earlier. Even if she was the last to arrive, she tells him, she is still a lot older than he is.
She knows the Chord’s pipa the moment Soul shows it to her: it is the pipa Inanis made for her daughter. Mending it is beyond her, so she sends him to her second sister, Myst, who hides out in a secret tavern in Pangzhen. When Soul asks about the faint weeping no one else seems to hear, she tells him about the Chord, a puppet who is a master of music and Phantom Arts, and wonders whether this is her way of asking for help.
Who Jewel is to the others
Triplet sister
Forge, the smith in Weeping Creek Valley. Jewel will not let Forge call herself the eldest without a fight: she was only born a moment before.
“Younger sister...? We're triplets! Forge was only born a moment before me. Don't tell me she's calling herself the eldest again.”
